Workpackage 4: Security

To be practical, a registry must perform some form of access control, especially if it supports the attachment of metadata by third parties. The UDDI specification addresses security by introducing a form of cookie mechanism, a so-called "authToken". Given that the myGrid registry would typically be deployed in the context of a grid toolkit, it would be beneficial if it could reuse the security infrastructure adopted by the toolkit. This would allow users to rely on their grid credentials to access the registry, as they would for any other grid services.

We will ensure that the myGrid registry integrates into the security infrastructure adopted by the OMII for their distribution. Furthermore, in order to reach a maximum number of users, we would also seek to make the myGrid registry deployable as part of the Globus Toolkit and use its grid security infrastructure.
